SUMMARY:Finding Joy In Your Writing: In The Time of Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:We’ll gather in the California Writers Circle in Joaquin Miller Park to hear Nazelah Jamison’s presentation “Finding Joy in the Time of the Apocalypse.”\nThe world seems to be ending: wanna-be dictators are being elected\, the planet is heating up and glaciers are melting\, the number of natural disasters is at an all-time high\, and our enemies seem to be joining and actively conspiring against us. She earned an MFA from Naropa University and has published two books of poetry\, the newest of which is Wile & Wing (Manic D Press). She has been published in numerous anthologies and is currently the poet laureate of nearby Alameda. As an active board member for literary arts organizations\, Kimi curates and hosts readings in Alameda and San Francisco. She believes that creating community through art is a revolutionary act.\nKeith Gaboury earned a MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College. His poems have appeared in such literary publications as Poetry Quarterly\, New Millennium Writings\, and the San Francisco Public Library’s Poem of the Day Series. Kelsay Books published The Cosmos is Alive in 2023\, and Falkenberg Press published Still Human in 2025. SUMMARY:Still Human Book Launch Reading
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate the book launch of Still Human\, Keith Gaboury’s surrealistic take on the Bay Area. The free reading will take place at Roast & Toast Cafe in Berkeley\, California. We’re also excited to feature the poetry of K.R. Morrison and Paul Corman-Roberts.\nPrimarily set in the Bay Area\, Still Human is a surrealistic poetry collection that explores gender\, sexuality\, and human identity. Along with illustrations that poetically complement certain poems\, the collection views the world through a surrealistic lens. In order to discover a place in one’s town\, city\, and country\, the poems dive into the dichotomy between urban and rural\, male and female\, animal and human.\nThe reading is free to attend. Books will be available for purchase.\nLearn more about Still Human: keithgaboury.com/still-human-sale-page\n
