SUMMARY:Finding Joy In Your Writing: In The Time of Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:We’ll gather in the California Writers Circle in Joaquin Miller Park to hear Nazelah Jamison’s presentation “Finding Joy in the Time of the Apocalypse.”\nThe world seems to be ending: wanna-be dictators are being elected\, the planet is heating up and glaciers are melting\, the number of natural disasters is at an all-time high\, and our enemies seem to be joining and actively conspiring against us. In a time when internal and global conflict is more prevalent than ever\, how does a writer still find actual joy in writing? From changing paths to changing direction\, Nazelah Jamison invites you to seek\, and find\, the joy.\n\nAbout Nazelah Jamison:Nazelah Jamison is a Bay Area-based performance poet\, author\, comedian\, vocalist and emcee. Her first book of poetry\, Evolutionary Heart\, was released on Nomadic Press in 2016\, and reprinted and re-released on Black Lawrence Press in Fall 2023. Her work can also be found in The Racket Journal: Issue Fifteen (2020)\, Culture Counts Magazine (2021)\, La Raiz Magazine (2022)\, Better Ancestors\, Sparkle + Blink 115 (Quiet Lightning 2022) and The Town: An Anthology of Oakland Poets (Nomadic Press\, 2023). In her spare time\, Nazelah enjoys writing horror screenplays and saving the day. She hosts Thee Virtual Open Mic every 1st & 3rd Friday on Zoom\, and gives the best hugs in the Bay Area.
