A Poetry Workshop (With Zoom):
Simple process
Quick turnaround (within a week)
Instructive and encouraging feedback
Inspired list of authors to expand your poetry library
Tips you can use for all of your poems
**Includes a 30-minute Zoom call to review and workshop your poem together
After you submit your poem, I'll give detailed comments about what's working in the poem and what I believe can be improved upon. I'll also send you a list of recommended authors I believe will inspire you (I love to do this because my clients' poetry always brings to memory other poets who have similar writing styles). The instructive comments I offer to improve your poem can be applied to your other poems as well.
If you would like a more one-on-one experience with workshopping your poem, I offer an option with the workshop that includes a 30-minute Zoom call where we will go over the comments I made on your poem, and do a deep dive into every part of the poem.
We will have a dialogue about your perspective of the poem, and I will offer my advice on how to elevate your poem and future writings.
My sincere hope is that after this workshop, you will be inspired to continue on your poetry journey for years to come!
About Me
The first poetry workshop I participated in was in 2004 as an undergraduate student at Baker University. I attended more poetry workshops at Baker University and also as a graduate student at San Francisco State University and Emerson College.
Presently, I regularly attend poetry workshops through the Poetry Connected Meetup.com group. I also regularly host poetry workshops through the Events page on my website.
I love understanding how a poem is working on the page, and then articulating specific suggestions in order to elevate the poem to the next level.
In workshops I attended over the years, I gained confidence through the process. Overtime, I began to understand what was working (and not working) in my poetry on my own.
I have since become a published author with The Boy Born with a Pinhole Heart, Oakland, I'm Not Dead, The Cosmos is Alive, and Still Human.
After I guide you through the process of elevating your poem, you will be able to apply these instructional comments and frameworks into all of your poetry. I'm so excited to help you become a more confident poet!
